Full job description

Job summary

I’m looking for a freelance video editor to help bring a growing YouTube channel to the next level.

The channel focuses on faceless, narrative-driven explainer content around photography history. The goal is to create highly engaging, story-led videos that are both educational and entertaining — in a style similar to channels like Vox.

What you’ll be doing

Editing long-form YouTube videos (approx. 10 minutes)
Turning scripts and voiceover into engaging visual narratives
Structuring pacing to keep retention high throughout the video
Sourcing and integrating supporting visuals (archive images, video clips, graphics where needed)
Adding simple motion graphics / text overlays to support storytelling
Working with voiceover, music, and sound design to enhance flow and tone
Collaborating with me to refine structure, pacing, and story clarity

Style reference

The editing style we’re aiming for is:

Vox-style explainer storytelling
Strong narrative pacing and clear structure
High quality visuals that support story
Clean motion graphics and thoughtful use of archival material
Engaging but high-end quality

What I’m looking for

Proven experience editing YouTube explainer, documentary, or narrative-driven content
Strong understanding of pacing and storytelling structure (this is key)
Ability to translate scripts into engaging visual sequences
Confident working independently from script + voiceover
Good editorial judgement (knowing what to cut, what to emphasise)
Familiarity with channels like Vox, Johnny Harris, Cleo Abram, etc.
Nice-to-have: Interest and knowledge in photography and its history

This is a remote freelance role with flexible timing.
Initially project-based, with potential for ongoing collaboration if it’s a good fit.
