Salary: £30,000–£34,000 per year depending on experience
Hours: 4 days per week, plus 1 Friday in every 4
Full-time salary paid based on 35 hours per week

RD Accounting Ltd is a growing, modern accountancy practice based in Brierley Hill. We work with a wide range of small and medium-sized businesses, providing high-quality accountancy, tax, payroll and business support services.

We have built an excellent reputation for being approachable, proactive and genuinely helpful to our clients. As the practice continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to join our friendly team at our office at 12C Two Locks, Hurst Business Park, Brierley Hill.

The role

We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper who can take ownership of bookkeeping work for a portfolio of clients. You will be working with cloud accounting software, preparing VAT returns, reconciling accounts, dealing with client records and supporting the wider team.

The role would suit someone who already has strong bookkeeping experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice or multi-client environment.

Main duties

Your duties will include:

Preparing bookkeeping records for a range of clients
Processing sales invoices, purchase invoices, bank transactions and journals
Bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations
Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
Maintaining accurate sales, purchase and nominal ledgers
Dealing with client queries in a professional and helpful manner
Working with cloud accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent
Supporting clients with bookkeeping processes and software queries
Assisting the wider accounts team where required
Payroll processing, where experience allows

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have:

Strong bookkeeping experience
Good working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent
Experience preparing VAT returns
Good understanding of sales ledgers, purchase ledgers and nominal ledgers
Excellent attention to detail
Confidence communicating with clients
Good organisation skills and the ability to manage deadlines
A positive, helpful and professional attitude
Payroll processing experience would be beneficial, but is not essential
Accountancy practice experience would be highly advantageous

Working pattern

This role is based at our office in Brierley Hill.

The normal working pattern is:

4 days per week
Plus 1 Friday in every 4
Salary paid based on a full-time 35 hour week

This means you benefit from a regular reduced working pattern while still receiving a competitive full-time salary.
