Pay: £25,500.00 – £28,000.00 per year (Starting salary reflective of experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship

About Us

Established in 2016, Ottolive Bakery has been proudly baking some of the finest sourdough and viennoiserie in the heart of Shropshire for the past decade.

To support our growth, our sister company, Ottolive Foods Ltd, established a dedicated production bakery in Shrewsbury. We specialize in long-fermented breads and high-quality pastries, supplying both wholesale clients and our own Ottolive Bakehouse stores. This is a fantastic time to join our passionate team as we continue to expand!

About the Role

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join us as an Artisan Baker.

While prior kitchen or bakery experience is preferred, full training will be provided for the right candidate. What matters most to us is a genuine passion for the craft, a sharp eye for detail, and a eagerness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

You will be involved in every stage of the artisan baking process, including:

Production: Mixing doughs using spiral mixers, hand moulding, and shaping sourdough and yeasted breads.
Oven Work: Precision loading, baking, and unloading products.
Pastry & Prep: Preparing viennoiserie, pastries, and cakes, as well as accurately weighing ingredients.
Operations: Packing products for wholesale/retail distribution and setting up the bakery for daily operation.
Hygiene & Safety: Maintaining a clean workspace, logging temperatures, adhering to HACCP procedures, and participating in deep cleaning and maintenance.

Who We’re Looking For

Our bakery features an open kitchen setting, so professionalism and teamwork are key. The ideal candidate will have:

Experience: Previous background in a bakery or professional kitchen is preferred.
Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting 16kg flour sacks and handling up to 4 tonnes of dough weekly.
Reliability: A positive, "can-do" attitude and strong teamwork skills.
Flexibility: Willingness to work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as required.
Pride in Craft: High attention to detail and a commitment to producing premium goods.
