Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team, with an emphasis on overtime shifts. The successful candidate will play a vital role in meal and food preparation, ensuring smooth kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant settings is highly desirable, and a strong commitment to food safety standards is essential. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and eager to develop their skills within a professional kitchen setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation and food assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
Support the culinary team during busy service periods, including plating and serving food when required
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen work areas, including washing utensils, equipment, and surfaces
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
Help with inventory management by organising stock and notifying supervisors of low supplies
Support catering events by preparing ingredients and assisting with event setup and breakdown
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to prevent accidents or contamination

Skills

Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is preferred
Strong understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety protocols
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak times
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
Flexibility to work overtime shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
Knowledge of food safety standards recognised within the hospitality industry
Serving experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is important
