Full job description

Overview
PFF Packaging Innovation Group have sites in Keighley and Sedgefield. The company manufacture plastic packaging mainly for the food industry and have extrusion, thermoforming, in-mould labelling and printing machines.

Main Purpose: The production operator is responsible for the production and packaging of manufactured products from a cell of high-speed thermoforming machines, as well as ensuring the quality, efficiency and production targets are achieved.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Working in accordance with the company’s BRC Certification, Health & Safety policy and good manufacturing practice.

2. Performing product changeovers, setups and run established tooling to the manufacturing specification, particularly within the production time targets.

3. Diagnose and correct running faults in a timely manner.

4. Effectively communicate progress and any issues that arise with the team leader.

5. Perform production duties such as raw material changes, packing, taping, manual lifting and labelling.

6. Ensure products are packed correctly in accordance with the packing specification for each order and labelled correctly.

7. Carry out and document quality inspections per SOP, accurately and on time.

8. Report any defects or out-of-spec product, to the team leader.

9. Ensure accurate input of all relevant information into the company computer system and all paperwork is completed accurately and signed.

10. Ensure removal of all good products from within the skeletal waste before re-starting machine during size changes.

11. Carry out all machine clean downs as instructed on the SOP.

12. Ensure all waste or defect product is segregated and placed in relevant containers, to enable appropriate removal.

13. The correct PPE must be worn where stated and safe working practices are adhered to.

14. Responsible for housekeeping of the general area around the machine including sweeping the work area and picking up loose items.

15. Always maintain a clean, organized and safe environment.

16. Liaise with the other team members regarding holidays/absence, in order to ensure that all team members share the required cover.

The successful candidate should have the:

· Good verbal communication and listening skills, all communication both written and verbal must be in English.

· Ability to use own initiative to work as an individual or as part of a team unsupervised.

· Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.

· Ability to operate computer equipment for data purposes.

· Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment.

· A methodical approach to systems and understanding of the importance of standards and established/agreed systems of work.

· Able to make decisions based on experience, have confidence to act and make changes within given boundaries.

· Good personal organisation under pressure from time, internal and external customers.

· Time management skills.

Ability to read and understand written planning and follow verbal instructions

· A flexible approach to work

· Strong work ethic, must want to do tasks and understand their value.

· Reliable, general timekeeping and honesty, working unsupervised.

· Adaptable over a broad range of work.

· Motivated to take on new areas of work and learn new skills.

This is an hourly/weekly paid role, however monthly paid is an option. Overtime is paid at 1.5 rate.

Hours of work: Alternating 07:00 – 19:00 and 19:00 – 07:00 - 3 on 3 off 12-hour shift pattern

Holidays: 24-days inclusive bank holidays

Benefits: Auto-enrolment Standard Life Pension after 3 months (5% employee / 3% employer)
