The University of Sheffield International College is seeking a Curriculum Leader in the Business and Economics team, delivering modules across the Business, Economics, and Accounting and Finance curriculum areas for the International Foundation Year, International Year 1, and Pre-Master's programmes, preparing students for progression to The University of Sheffield.
The Curriculum Leader will provide the academic team leadership, contribute to the delivery of excellent student outcomes; quality assurance and enhancement that is commended by the QAA; and curriculum innovation, which embeds strong collaborative working with both the University and the network. A critical focus of this role is the successful leadership of academic staff in the design, development, and implementation of new or enhanced curricula, including the International Year 1 Programme.
You will be responsible for leading and supporting the subject area within the pathway. Reporting to the Head of Subject, you will work closely with senior colleagues within and outside of the College and be accountable for the delivery of contractually required progression rates to the University. In addition to the effective line management of teaching staff, you will also have accountability for student outcomes across defined groups of modules and a proven record of leading successful academic projects in partnership with other education providers.
The successful candidate will have recent successful line management experience leading an academic team in a relevant subject discipline and have proven ability to engage with a HEI in collaborative developments.
The successful candidate will have a teaching commitment of up to 15 hours per week.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Academic management & Curriculum Innovation-
Maintain academic oversight of the delivery, assessment and monitoring of a cognate group of modules within the pathway.

Contribute to the appointment process of full-time and sessional staff to the programme team and provide direct line management support to Academic Tutors and Sessional Tutors, including providing feedback on their performance.

Provide direct line management support for the Academic Tutors and Sessional Tutors.

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of academic staff through the full curriculum development lifecycle, including the successful design and launch of new programmes such as the International Year 1 Programme.

Act as the lead representative for the College in academic project partnerships, ensuring project goals, quality standards, and stakeholder expectations are met.

Participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff and represent the college at appropriate events and meetings within the College, the partner university and externally.

Contribute to programme senior management meetings as determined appropriate by the Head of Business and Economics to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.

Student learning experience-
Analyse student performance data at College and programme levels to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Collaborate with the Head of Subject and Senior Leadership Team to design and implement targeted enhancement strategies.

Monitor the impact of interventions and report progress to senior leadership and relevant committees.

Work closely with Module Coordinators and University departments to maximise progression and maintain the currency and fit of modules to meet the needs of students progressing to their respective university degree programmes.

Work closely with Module Coordinators and staff from other teams on the programme to ensure that appropriate, current and relevant subject matter, academic skills and language development are integrated and embedded in the programme, aligned with the partnership articulation.

Oversee the development and maintenance of the college virtual learning environment (VLE).
Quality and standards assurance and enhancement-
Act as the lead to the pathway team and supervise academic standards, the quality of learning opportunities, the accuracy and completeness of published information, ensuring that they are managed appropriately and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the College.

Supervise consistency of delivery and standards across the subject provision, in line with the Study Group LTA Strategy.

Take responsibility for annual review, academic development and appropriate diversification of the provision (including revision of modules and the development of new modules) in a given subject pathway.

Conduct regular teaching observations and programme content audits to ensure academic standards and enhance teaching quality.

Provide clear, developmental feedback to academic staff and work collaboratively to implement improvements in teaching and assessment.

Produce reports, analysis and evaluation for internal and external scrutiny processes as directed by the Head of Subject and Deputy Director for Curriculum and Progression.

Any other duties as required from time to time by the College Senior Management Team.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)-
Design and deliver CPD programmes aligned to the Advance HE Professional Standards Framework.

Coordinate staff development days to promote teaching excellence and innovation.

Facilitate pathways for staff to achieve professional recognition (e.g., HEA Fellowship) and ongoing skills progression.
ABOUT YOU-
PhD degree in a relevant subject or a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.

Fellowship (or above) of Advance HE, or willingness to achieve within 12 months.

Additional leadership or management training (e.g., PGCert in Academic Practice, leadership development courses).

Experience of delivering high-quality teaching in Economics and Statistics, informed by ongoing feedback and reflective practice.

A good understanding of the UK pathway education context both from a business and academic perspective.

Experience, and a positive track record, of academic management and quality assurance in UK further and/or higher education.

Demonstrable substantial experience in successfully leading, advising, and mentoring a team of academic staff to develop and implement new curricula and teaching programmes

Display the skills required to lead successful academic projects in partnership with other education providers (e.g., universities, international colleges), demonstrating strong stakeholder management and the ability to achieve project milestones.

Demonstrable experience in leading academic teams and managing staff performance (including providing feedback to another person about their performance, which achieved a positive improvement).

Demonstrable experience in using qualitative and quantitative data to inform strategic decision making.

Experience of working within a Virtual Learning Environment.

Proven competence in teaching and administrative IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, etc.).

A student-centred and client-focused approach.

Strong project management, organisational and recordkeeping skills with attention to details.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, clients and partners at a variety of levels of seniority.
