Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Garden Centre Manager to lead our retail operations in Honiton. The successful candidate will oversee daily store activities, manage a team of staff, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong leadership and organisational skills to contribute to the growth and success of our garden centre. The manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards in sales, merchandising, and customer service, while fostering a positive working environment.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the garden centre team, including recruitment, training, and performance management
Oversee daily store operations to ensure smooth running and high levels of customer satisfaction
Manage sales targets and develop strategies to increase revenue through effective merchandising and promotional activities
Organise stock levels, inventory control, and replenishment to meet customer demand
Implement visual merchandising standards to enhance product presentation and optimise sales opportunities
Maintain excellent communication with staff and customers, ensuring clear information flow and addressing any issues promptly
Monitor health and safety compliance within the store environment
Analyse sales data to identify trends and opportunities for growth
Coordinate with suppliers for stock orders and deliveries
Manage administrative tasks including scheduling, reporting, and budgeting
Manage a busy cafe

Skills

Proven management experience within retail or garden centre environments
Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop a team
Excellent organisational skills with effective time management capabilities
Outstanding communication skills, including phone etiquette and interpersonal abilities
Proficiency in merchandising techniques to optimise product displays
Experience in sales management with a focus on achieving targets
Ability to supervise staff effectively while fostering a collaborative team environment
Multilingual or bilingual skills are advantageous for engaging diverse customer groups
Administrative experience with good organisational skills for handling reports and scheduling tasks
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced setting
