Full job description

We are looking for a proactive and motivated Library Building Operations Supervisor to join our team and play a key role in delivering an outstanding customer experience within the Main Library.

As a supervisory member of the Library Building Operations Team, you will support the smooth and effective day-to-day running of the Library estate. You will be instrumental in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment for all users, while guiding and supporting the Library Attendant team.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to Library Attendants
Support the User Services Officer in the operational management of the team
Act as a first point of contact for Library Attendants, offering advice and direction
Help ensure effective delivery of building operations across extended opening hours

Take a proactive role in:

Security and incident response
Fire safety and emergency procedures
Basic building maintenance and reporting issues
Responding to customer enquiries and supporting users

Strong team leadership or supervisory experience
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Confidence in handling operational and safety responsibilities
Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment
A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving
Flexibility to work a rota covering early mornings, evenings, and weekends
