Chef de Partie – The Gardeners Rest at Huntingdon Garden Centre

The Gardeners Rest, located within Huntingdon Garden Centre, is looking for an experienced and passionate Chef de Partie to become a key member of our growing kitchen team.

The Role

As Chef de Partie, you will take ownership of your section and support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering exceptional food quality and consistency. You will play an important role in maintaining high culinary standards while ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cook and present dishes to the highest standards
Manage and maintain your designated kitchen section
Ensure all food is prepared and served consistently and efficiently
Assist with menu planning and seasonal specials
Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control
Support junior kitchen team members through coaching and guidance
Ensure stock is rotated and stored correctly
Minimise food waste and maximise kitchen efficiency
Assist with stock takes and ordering requirements
Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
Ensure compliance with food hygiene and health & safety regulations
Work collaboratively with front-of-house and kitchen teams
Contribute ideas to improve menus, service and operational efficiency

Duties

Daily food preparation and mise en place
Cooking breakfast, brunch and lunch service items
Preparing fresh soups, specials, sandwiches, salads and seasonal dishes
Maintaining food safety records and temperature checks
Receiving and checking deliveries
Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages
Cleaning kitchen equipment and workstations
Supporting the kitchen during busy service periods
Ensuring all opening and closing procedures are completed

Skills & Experience Required

Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Commis Chef ready for progression
Passion for fresh, quality food
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work calmly under pressure
High standards of cleanliness and presentation
Good communication and teamwork skills
Knowledge of food safety and HACCP procedures
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred)
Flexible and positive attitude
Reliable, punctual and professional approach
