Job Purpose
To lead a small team responsible for setting up production lines, product quality, presentation, specification, packing efficiency and hygiene. To ensure that aims are achieved, and targets are met in a safe and efficient manner, whilst continuously improving systems, performance and operations.

Principle Accountabilities
· Efficiency
- i. To action any production or quality issues which are affecting output.
- ii. Report any production or quality issue which you are unable to resolve to your Team Leader
- iii. To communicate and achieve daily targets.
- iv. Recommend areas for improvement within your team to achieve maximum efficiency
- v. Ensure lines are balanced to gain maximum efficiencies
- vi. Monitor line performance highlighting problem products to business departments
· Productivity
- i. Maximise line productivity through good organisation and motivation of your team.
- ii. Working with your team to achieve agreed targets.
- iii. Reduce all waste type (See Flamingo LEAN)
· Rework
- i. Minimise the level of rework through a Right First-Time approach.
- ii. Any product that doesn’t meet the correct specifications or is an over pack should be either re-worked or unpacked in the agreed time span.
· Product Quality
- i. To ensure all products are packed in line with the current product specification / quality contracts including; flower quality, Price labelling, packaging, hardware and box ends, or any agreed variance as instructed by the Team Leader
- ii. Be responsible for the line output, including bouquet length, spread, trim, head and stem level.
- iii. To report any quality concerns to the team leader or QA Team
- iv. To ensure all products are stored correctly during productive/non-productive times
- v. Ensure bouquet quality is to highest standard
- vi. Monitor waste and feedback to technical team on ongoing quality issues
· Administration
- i. To follow the label check procedure, ensuring correct label usage.
- ii. To enforce and implement the knife control policy.
- iii. To ensure you and other staff are wearing the correct work wear.
- iv. To follow, enforce and train all Standard operating procedures (SOP’s)/Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
- v. To complete all paperwork, clearly and accurately
- vi. To ensure pre-start check sheets are completed where applicable
- vii. Complete line performance data in a timely and accurate manner
- viii. Assist with site audits including FPI, hygiene and H&S
· People
To support other key staff with the following
- i. To report disciplinary issues to your team leader or supervisor.
- ii. To assist colleagues in the development of the wider team to reach their full potential, through communication, coaching and identifying training needs.
· Flexibility and Attendance
- i. To support & work with other teams as and when required.
· Hygiene and Housekeeping
- ii. Ensure that the Hygiene of the line, including all the machinery & surrounding area is maintained at the highest level
- iii. Enforce site ‘clean as you go’ policy
· Health and Safety
- i. Take reasonable care for your own health & safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions.
- ii. Identify and communicate any areas of concern to your team and if necessary other key staff.
- iii. To ensure all health & safety policies are adhered to on and around your working area.
- iv. Ensure that you are briefed regarding health & safety issues & trained on relevant SSOW.
- v. To ensure any accident is reported & investigated following the procedure in place.
- vi. Report breaches of health & safety to your team leader/management team.
- vii. Report potential health & safety issues to the SHE Officer/ management team.
- viii. To keep all workspaces clean & tidy, by following Clean as You Go procedure.
- ix. Ensure all water spillages are cleared away immediately.
- x. The fire exists are always kept clear.
- xi. To ensure you are always wearing the correct PPE.
- xii. Make sure all pre-start checks are completed.

- - Work with engineering team to prevent downtime reporting issues to them
- - Machines kept clean and in good working order, complete pre-start checks
- - End of shift clean down
- - Change overs are slick, efficient and prepared
- - Specifications are adhered to by using correct programs and date checking
- - Administration completed to high standard, on time and in full
- - Data systems are up to date and relevant giving clear information
- - Machine and production area prepared for commencement of each shift to minimise disruption to production and maximise efficiency
- - Ensure only trained staff permitted to use machinery
- - Line performance records completed manually and OEE
- - All documentation filled in accurately and in accordance with Quality procedures
- - Be responsible for area in AUL’s absence
- - Liaise with packing team to clarify requirements and relevant pre-start checks carried out and signed off
- - Report any follow up actions to AUL
- - Work with AUL to ensure supply of raw materials
- - Reduce raw material waste and record
- - Housekeeping standards meet good manufacturing practice
- - Work in a safe and responsible manner and abide by health and safety procedures
- - Provide cover as requested for Line Leader
Deputising Information
- In the absence of the Team Leader, the Machine Minder may take on some of their day to day activities. In the event of a serious issue or concern, they will revert to the Production Manager for support and guidance and/or the Senior Production Team.
- In the absence of the Machine Minder, another member of the Production Team will assume this lead role.
