Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and fostering their development. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a nurturing environment where early childhood education and care are prioritised. The Deputy Nursery Manager will assist the Nursery Manager in ensuring high standards of care, safety, and educational provision, while also taking on supervisory responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities

Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily nursery operations, ensuring smooth and efficient running of the centre
Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities that promote early childhood development
Supervise staff and volunteers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to maintain high standards of childcare and education
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and staff to create a welcoming and inclusive environment
Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures
Contribute to maintaining accurate records related to children's progress, attendance, and safeguarding requirements
Lead by example in demonstrating excellent communication skills and professional conduct
Support recruitment, training, and performance management processes for nursery staff
Assist in managing administrative tasks such as rota planning, resource management, and liaising with external agencies when necessary
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of care provided

Requirements

Proven experience in nursery management or a similar leadership role within early childhood education
Strong management and organisational skills with the ability to lead a team effectively
Passionate about working with children and committed to their wellbeing and development
Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding policies, and early childhood education principles
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals
Valid driving licence is desirable for travelling between centres or community engagement activities
Experience working with children in childcare settings or early years environments is essential
Relevant qualifications in early childhood education or childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare) or equivalent are preferred
