About The Temple

The Temple is one of Doncaster's busiest hospitality venues, with a capacity of 700 guests and a diverse offering including food, drinks, live sport, live entertainment and private events.

We're looking for an ambitious and capable Deputy General Manager to support the General Manager in driving standards, leading the management team and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role that requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills and the ability to make confident decisions under pressure. In return, you'll join a growing business with genuine opportunities for development and progression.

The Role

As Deputy General Manager, you will act as second-in-command, supporting the General Manager in leading a team of over 35 employees whilst ensuring the venue operates safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

You will be expected to lead by example, inspire the team and take ownership of the day-to-day operation whenever required.

Key Responsibilities

Support the General Manager in the overall operation of the venue
Lead shifts and ensure smooth day-to-day operations
Drive high standards of customer service across all departments
Coach, motivate and develop the management and wider team
Assist with recruitment, training and performance management
Manage labour, rotas and shift planning
Support stock control, ordering and stock rotation
Oversee cash handling, banking and financial procedures
Assist with private hire enquiries, bookings and event planning
Ensure compliance with all licensing, food safety and health & safety legislation
Monitor venue standards, cleanliness and presentation
Work closely with the kitchen team to deliver a seamless food and drink operation
Support promotional activity and help grow the business

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

Organised and highly motivated
Calm under pressure and able to think quickly
A confident leader with excellent communication skills
Professional and presentable
Passionate about hospitality and guest experience
Commercially aware with a proactive approach
Flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Essential Experience

Previous management experience within hospitality
Experience working in a busy food-led and wet-led venue
Strong understanding of restaurant and bar operations
Cash handling and banking experience
Stock ordering and stock management
Staff scheduling and rota management
Administrative experience including bookings and event planning
Knowledge of licensing legislation and compliance
Personal Licence Holder (or willing to obtain)
