Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join our catering team at Stour Valley Care Group, working between two care homes. The ideal candidate will possess leadership skills catering expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced but friendly kitchen and contribute to menu development. The successful applicant will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and service excellence.

Duties

Assist the Head Chefs in managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high standards of food preparation.
Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, including chefs and kitchen assistants, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Oversee food production processes, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards and presentation requirements.
Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, demonstrating advanced culinary skills and creativity.
Work across both sites as required
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen efficiency.
Assist in menu planning, development of new dishes, and seasonal updates.
Support training programmes for junior staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

Proven experience within a professional or care home kitchen environment.
Background in food production, cooking, and food preparation
Team management skills.
Solid understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
Passionate about culinary arts with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of kitchen operations.
