Macademia is a growing education provider based in Nottingham, delivering small-group, careers-focused learning experiences for young people aged 8–18.
We work with home-educated learners, schools, alternative provisions and SEND settings, helping young people explore future career pathways through practical, project-based learning.
We are currently looking for passionate educators, professionals and industry specialists to join our team of self-employed tutors and workshop facilitators.
How We Work
Our tutors work with us on a self-employed basis.
We work around each tutor's availability and areas of expertise, developing programmes collaboratively where appropriate. We manage the marketing, bookings, administration and customer enquiries, and place sessions onto our booking system. When sessions receive sufficient bookings, we allocate and deliver those sessions with our tutors.
Alongside our regular programmes, we also work directly with schools and organisations to deliver workshops, enrichment days, workplace simulations and immersive career experiences.
Workplace Simulations & Work Experience
One area that is growing particularly quickly for us is our workplace simulation and work experience provision.
These programmes allow young people to experience realistic professional environments whilst developing confidence, communication, teamwork and career awareness.
Current simulation themes include:
- Emergency Response Simulation (Police, Fire & Rescue, Armed Forces & Health Services)
- Future Cities Studio
- Sustainable Product & Business Studio
- Creative Media & Campaign Studio
- Built Environment Practice (Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design & Sustainability)
Within these simulations, students are assigned realistic professional roles such as Project Manager, Design Coordinator, Structural Engineer, Communications Officer, Medical Lead, Marketing Lead or Sustainability Consultant.
Working as professional teams, students respond to real-world briefs, develop solutions, present ideas and experience industry-style workflows in a supportive educational environment.
