Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machining equipment to produce precision components. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical processes and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. The Machinist will play a vital part in ensuring the quality and efficiency of production, working with a range of tools and machinery to meet strict standards.

Duties

Operate and programme machining equipment such as mills, lathes, and grinders to produce parts according to technical drawings and specifications.
Utilise CAD and SolidWorks software for designing and modifying components as required.
Perform grinding, milling, drilling, and welding tasks to shape materials including plastics through injection moulding processes.
Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
Assist in assembly processes by fitting machined parts accurately.
Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling equipment safely and effectively during production.
Apply basic maths skills for measurements, tolerances, and calculations necessary for machining tasks.
Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organisation within the workspace.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly to minimise downtime and ensure continuous production flow.

Skills

Proficiency in operating grinding machines, milling machines, and other machining equipment.
Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks for design purposes.
Knowledge of welding techniques relevant to manufacturing processes.
Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of plastics injection moulding processes.
Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised tooling for precision work.
Ability to read technical drawings accurately and interpret engineering specifications.
Basic mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and quality control checks.
Familiarity with assembly procedures involving machined components.
Excellent problem-solving skills with an eye for detail to ensure high-quality outputs.
