Location: Bedford & Canterbury (Current Projects) – Future projects across the Midlands & South East
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (DOE)

TimesGroup Ltd is a growing Mechanical & Electrical Contractor delivering mechanical installation packages across the residential, student accommodation, education, commercial and healthcare sectors.
Due to continued growth and the award of multiple new-build and refurbishment projects, we are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join our Projects Division.
This is a site-based role where you will take full responsibility for delivering mechanical installation packages from mobilisation through to practical completion.
Our current workload includes:
- New Build Residential Apartment Development – Bedford
- Student Accommodation Refurbishment – Canterbury
- Further residential, education and commercial projects across the Midlands & South East
Typical mechanical package values range from £250,000 to £1,000,000+, with a strong secured pipeline providing long-term career stability.
The Role
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of mechanical installation packages, ensuring projects are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with clients, consultants, site teams, subcontractors and our commercial department, you will manage projects from initial mobilisation through to commissioning and final handover.
This is a genuine Project Manager role with responsibility for running live construction projects on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical installation projects from pre-start through to practical completion.
- Plan and coordinate labour, subcontractors, materials, plant and procurement.
- Manage Mechanical Supervisors, plumbers, pipefitters and specialist subcontractors.
- Monitor construction programmes and ensure key milestones are achieved.
- Attend client, consultant, design, coordination and progress meetings.
- Identify and manage project variations alongside the commercial team.
- Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate commissioning, flushing, pressure testing and final handover.
- Produce regular progress reports and programme updates.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering mechanical installation packages for a Mechanical or M&E Contractor.
Essential
- Previous experience working as a Mechanical Project Manager within the Mechanical Building Services or M&E Construction industry.
- Experience delivering mechanical packages on:
- New-build residential developments
- Apartment schemes
- Student accommodation
- Commercial and education projects
- Strong technical understanding of:
- Domestic & commercial plumbing systems
- Heating systems
- Public Health services
- Plant rooms
- Above-ground drainage
- HVAC installations
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong programme management and commercial awareness.
- Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and site activities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.Desirable
- Experience delivering projects valued between £500k and £2m+.
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Managers Card.
- First Aid at Work.
- NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent Mechanical qualification.
Please Note
This vacancy is for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager responsible for managing site-based mechanical installation projects.
We are specifically interested in candidates who have previously delivered mechanical packages for Mechanical or M&E Contractors on residential, apartment or student accommodation developments.
Applicants whose experience is primarily within domestic plumbing, facilities maintenance, service engineering, heavy industrial, oil & gas, petrochemical, manufacturing or process engineering are unlikely to be suitable for this position.
