Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Qualified Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles and machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.

You will be based at our service centre site (Towcester NN12), working independently while being overseen by the business owner.

This is an independent role suited to someone confident working on their own.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive diagnostics on vehicles and machinery to identify faults accurately.
Perform repairs and maintenance tasks including engine work, brake repairs, electrical systems, and suspension components.
Maintain detailed records of all repairs, parts used, and service history for each vehicle or machine.
Collaborate with team members to prioritise workload and ensure timely completion of tasks.
Order parts and supplies as necessary to facilitate repairs and maintenance schedules.
Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times during operations.
Servicing and general repairs.
Working on a wide range of vehicles, including Land Rovers

Skills

Proven experience as a qualified mechanic with relevant certifications or qualifications.
Strong knowledge of automotive systems, electrical diagnostics, and mechanical repair techniques.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and reporting.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a busy workshop environment.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and specialised equipment.
Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to clients and colleagues.

Working Arrangement

Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.
Opportunity for overtime and weekend work (if desired)
Self-employed basis (as with all current staff)
PAYE/on-the-books option can be discussed
Salary negotiable depending on experience
