Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant

Part-Time | Approx. 40–50 Hours/Month | Hybrid / Remote

Immediate Start Available

About the Role

We are a small, busy business looking for a reliable and organised Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to manage the day-to-day financial admin across two entities. This is a part-time, flexible role requiring approximately 40–50 hours per month, ideal for someone looking to fit work around other commitments.

The role is primarily remote, with one visit to our office per week to collect physical receipts and documentation. No formal accounting qualification is required, we are looking for someone with solid bookkeeping experience who is comfortable using Xero and working independently. An immediate start is available.

What You'll Be Doing

Input and process purchase invoices across both entities
Collect and import credit card statements
Review sales codes to ensure transactions are posted correctly
Prepare and send a weekly payments due report
Process payroll journals and reconcile the net wages account
Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns; produce monthly VAT estimates
Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
Monitor GoCardless account balances and reconcile against Xero
Maintain a monthly irregular expenditure spreadsheet
Check and agree intercompany accounts across both entities
Liaise with HMRC regarding payment amounts
Run monthly management accounts and cash flow reports from Xero

About You

Proven bookkeeping or accounts assistant experience
Confident using Xero — previous experience is essential
Comfortable working remotely and managing your own time
Accurate, organised, and reliable with good attention to detail
Able to handle VAT returns and payroll journals
No formal accounting qualification required, experience counts

What We Offer

£14 per hour, with scope to increase based on performance and experience
Approximately 40–50 hours per month, flexible around your schedule
Primarily remote with one short weekly visit to collect paperwork
