Full job description

Working Pattern

Monday 7:45am – 6:30pm (with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break)
Friday 1:30pm – 6:30pm

Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave and sickness.

About Us

Ashcroft Surgery is a friendly, patient-focused dispensing GP practice serving approximately 4,800 patients in the village of Wing. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality care to our patients and creating a supportive working environment for our team.

We are looking for a welcoming, organised and reliable Medical Receptionist to join our small and dedicated team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment and wants to make a real difference to patients every day.

The Role

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the practice. The role is varied, fast-paced and rewarding.

Duties will include:

Greeting and assisting patients both in person and over the telephone
Booking and managing appointments
Handling patient enquiries in a professional and compassionate manner
Processing prescription requests
Registering new patients and updating patient records
Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence
Supporting clinicians and colleagues with administrative tasks
Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times

About You

The ideal candidate will:

Have excellent communication and customer service skills
Be confident using computers and learning new systems
Be able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Enjoy working as part of a team
Be reliable, professional and approachable

Previous experience in a GP surgery, healthcare setting, reception role or customer service position would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
