Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and professional General Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our housekeeping, laundry, and kitchen services. The successful candidate will help maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment while providing high-quality support with meal service, dishwashing, laundry, and general housekeeping duties. This role requires a positive attitude, excellent teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer service.

Key ResponsibilitiesHousekeeping

Clean and maintain bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, offices, and other designated spaces to a high standard.
Dust, vacuum, mop, and sanitise floors and surfaces.
Replenish cleaning supplies and report any maintenance issues or damaged equipment.
Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with health, safety, and infection control procedures.

Laundry

Collect, sort, wash, dry, iron, fold, and distribute laundry, including linen, towels.
Operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the laundry area.
Ensure laundry is handled in accordance with infection prevention and control standards.

Kitchen & Meal Service

Set up and clear dining areas before and after meal service.
Collect used crockery, cutlery, and trays promptly and courteously.
Wash dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and cookware using manual and commercial dishwashing equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen work areas and ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations.

General Duties

Follow all health and safety, food hygiene, and infection control policies and procedures.
Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across housekeeping, catering, and care teams.
Provide a courteous, respectful, and professional service to residents, visitors, colleagues.
Report hazards, accidents, equipment faults, or concerns promptly.
Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.

Person SpecificationEssential

Previous experience in housekeeping, laundry, catering, or a similar support role is desirable.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Reliable, punctual, and well organised.
Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a busy environment.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Understanding of health and safety and infection prevention practices.
