Trade Counter Team Member

Be the face of our branch and the go-to expert for our trade customers.

We’re looking for a confident, customer-focused Trade Counter Team Member to join our growing team. You’ll work closely with plumbers, heating engineers, and contractors - helping them get the right products, first time, every time.

If you enjoy a fast-paced environment, building relationships, and turning product knowledge into great service, this role is for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

Deliver a friendly, efficient service at the trade counter, understanding customer needs and recommending the right solutions
Process quotes, sales orders and returns accurately using our systems
Provide clear, practical advice on plumbing and heating products, availability and alternatives
Keep your product knowledge sharp to support customers with confidence
Maintain a well-presented counter and shop floor with accurate labelling and stock levels
Support the wider team with warehouse duties when needed (picking, checking deliveries)
Drive sales through upselling and building strong, repeat customer relationships
Handle queries and resolve issues quickly, knowing when to escalate where needed
Work safely and follow all health & safety standards across the branch

What You Bring

A natural ability to build rapport and deliver great customer service
Confidence in sales, with a proactive approach to upselling
Good attention to detail, especially when processing orders and managing stock
The ability to stay organised and focused in a busy environment
A practical, hands-on mindset and strong problem-solving skills
A team-first attitude - working closely with warehouse and delivery colleagues
Basic IT skills (EPOS systems, Microsoft Office)
Knowledge of plumbing & heating products, or a strong willingness to learn quickly

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience in a plumbing & heating merchant, builders’ merchant or trade counter role (preferred)
Understanding of plumbing and heating products such as fittings, valves and boilers (ideal but not essential)
Full UK driving licence (advantageous)
GCSEs (or equivalent); industry or product training is a bonus
