Full job description

Dr Virmani and Dr Bedi's Surgery are a friendly, patient-centred GP surgery serving approximately 4000 patients. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality care and excellent customer service to our community. We are looking for an organised and approachable receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

Provide a warm, professional welcome to all patients and visitors.
Answer and manage telephone calls, emails, and online requests promptly.
Book, amend, and cancel patient appointments using the clinical system (SystmOne).
Process repeat prescription requests and other patient queries in line with practice policy.
Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality at all times (GDPR compliant).
Assist with new patient registrations and changes to records.
Liaise with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support smooth running of clinics.
Perform administrative tasks such as scanning, coding, filing, and data entry.
Signpost patients to the correct services
Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
Input data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
Support administrative staff, providing cover during staff absences
Chaperoning
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

Essential Skills & Experience

Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Confident in using computers, Microsoft Office, and clinical systems (training provided).
Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and maintain professionalism.
Team player with a flexible and proactive attitude.
Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection principles

Hours: Mon - Fri 2.30pm - 6.30pm
