Job Overview

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Assistant Credit Controller to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term contract basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to our financial operations within a dynamic organisation. The successful candidate will support credit management processes, assist with data entry, and ensure the smooth handling of accounts receivable activities. Prior experience with accounting software and strong organisational skills are essential for this position. The role is ideal for individuals seeking flexible working hours while gaining valuable experience in financial services.

Responsibilities

Assist in managing the credit control process, including monitoring overdue accounts and following up on outstanding payments
Perform data entry tasks related to customer accounts and payment records using accounting software such as Sage or Access Financials
Support the preparation of statements and reports on account status and payment histories
Liaise with clients via phone or email to facilitate payment collection, demonstrating professional phone etiquette.
Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable transactions
Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures
Analyse account data to identify trends or potential issues requiring escalation or further investigation
Assist in maintaining the integrity of financial data within various systems, including Sage and PeopleSoft

Qualifications

Proven experience with accounting software such as Sage similar is essential
Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Previous exposure to financial services or credit control functions is advantageous
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Good analysis skills to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies or concerns
Strong communication skills, including professional phone etiquette when engaging with customers.
Knowledge of accounts payable processes and familiarity with telecommunication tools for customer outreach
Ability to work independently within a team environment and adapt to organisational procedures
