About Us

Bramber Primary School is a welcoming, one-form entry primary school, set in beautiful surroundings and known for its nurturing, family-focused ethos. We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team and play a vital role in supporting our pupils’ learning and development.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, well-organised and positive individual to become part of our busy and supportive school community. In this role, you will:

Work closely with the class teacher and senior leaders
Support pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups and within whole-class settings
Contribute to pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive

Job Details

Salary: Grade 3, points 3-4

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 30.5 hpw

Location: Bramber Primary, Bramber Road, WORTHING, BN14 8QB

What You Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role you will need to:

Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special educational needs, ensuring their safety and success in learning (including in playgrounds, dining areas or on visits outside the school premises).

Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.

To take all reasonable measures to ensure health and safety in the classroom and other relevant areas within and outside the school premises.

To keep the children focused on their learning, including in their behaviour and social development, in order to make progress and develop.

To assist children as requested, explaining and expanding on the teaching as agreed by the class teacher to facilitate the best learning outcomes for the children.

Set high expectations in all aspects of learning and life, whilst modelling these at all times in accordance with school policies and procedures.

Promote self-esteem and independence through appropriate relationships and clear language.

To assist in ensuring the learning environment supports learning, setting up for sessions and tidying away or supervise the children as they carry out these tasks.

To check for children’s understanding throughout their learning, monitor tasks and supervise the use of equipment.

To feedback to teachers on the learning and discuss ways forward in all areas of children’s development.

To safeguard children and immediately report any concerns with regards abuse, including whistleblowing/confidential reporting.

Promote excellent behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to make choices and take responsibility for their own actions.

To undertake other relevant duties allocated at the discretion of the classroom teacher, Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or other designated supervisor.

To maintain records of children’s progress as instructed by the classroom teacher, Headteacher or other designated supervisor, with input to the monitoring and reviewing of individual programmes.

To undertake any of the following roles:
- Collecting money
- Bulk photocopying/laminating
- Record-keeping and filing
- Classroom display – teachers will make professional decisions in determining what material is displayed in and around their classroom
- Collate children’s reports
- Preparing and maintaining equipment and materials

To establish constructive relationships with staff and parents/carers.
