We are a privately run children’s day nursery based at 45 Chesswood Road, Worthing, BN11 2AA, dedicated to providing high-quality care for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming setting where children feel safe, happy, and valued. Our nursery offers a stimulating, safe, and fun environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Third in Charge to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced early years practitioner ready to take the next step into a leadership role, while still working closely with children on a daily basis.

As Third in Charge, you will support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting, ensuring the highest standards of care, education, and safeguarding are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Support the management team in the smooth day-to-day operation of the nursery
Lead by example, delivering outstanding care and education
Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
Ensure a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for all children
Support staff development and act as a role model within the team
Assist with planning and implementing engaging activities in line with the EYFS
Step into a leadership role in the absence of the Manager and Deputy

We ask that you have

A full and relevant Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification
At least 2 years’ experience within an Early Years setting
Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and Ofsted Early Education Inspection Framework
A passionate, inspiring individual who enjoys working with children and brings fun into learning
Ability to lead and support a team to deliver exceptional care and education
Excellent listening, communication, and customer service skills
A proactive, positive approach to leadership and teamwork

Salary stated is based on a Level 3 qualification and full time hours, ( 40) equivalent and is dependent on qualification and experience.

The position is subject to a successful DBS clearance check at enhanced level. You will also be required to sign up to the DBS update service.
