Job Description: Out-of-School Activity Leader & Minibus Driver

Location: Woodlands (In-person)

Position: Part-Time, Permanent (All year round)

Hours: 25 hours per week (Split-shift: 07:30–09:00 & 14:30–18:00)

Are you an energetic, reliable, and safety-conscious individual looking for a rewarding role in childcare? At Woodlands, we take pride in our "spectacular" setting and our popular Before/After School and Holiday Clubs. We are looking for a dedicated Practitioner to bridge the gap between school and home, providing a fun, safe, and enriching environment for children aged 4–10.

The Role

This is a dynamic, split-shift position that combines active play leadership with safe transport management. You will be the face of Woodlands during school transitions, ensuring children arrive safely and return to a world of engaging activities, including our renowned Forest School sessions and local excursions.

Key Responsibilities

● Safe Transportation: Drive the nursery minibus (manual) to perform daily school drop-offs and collections for up to 8 children.

● Enriching Play: Lead and support age-appropriate activities, supervising children aged 4–10 to ensure a balance of relaxation and active engagement.

● Forest School & Trips: During half-terms and summer holidays, you will assist in delivering Forest School sessions and local trips, with the opportunity for extended hours.

● Safeguarding & Welfare: Maintain the highest standards of safety and supervision during play and mealtimes.

● Parent Partnership: Act as a professional point of contact for parents, building strong, trusting relationships.

Regulatory & Essential Requirements

To meet Ofsted standards and insurance compliance, candidates must possess:

● Driving Credentials: A full, clean UK Driving License held for a minimum of 2 years. You must be over 21 years of age for insurance purposes and confident driving a manual minibus.

● Safeguarding: An Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references are a mandatory condition of employment.

● Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of the EYFS (for younger school-age transitions) and Health and Safety legislation regarding child transport.

● First Aid: (Desirable) A current Paediatric First Aid certificate, or a willingness to train.

Shift Patterns

● Term Time: Split shifts (Monday–Friday) 07:30–09:00 and 14:30–18:00.
