Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality food services. This role involves assisting with meal preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are upheld. The ideal candidate will have a passion for catering and cooking, with some experience in restaurant or kitchen environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain practical experience in a professional kitchen setting.

Duties

Assist with food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
Support the catering team in organising and setting up food stations for service
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including work surfaces, utensils, and equipment
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
Help with inventory management by organising supplies and notifying supervisors of stock shortages
Serve food to customers or guests in a courteous and professional manner
Assist with basic cooking tasks under supervision, gaining hands-on culinary experience
Support the team during busy periods by helping with additional duties as required

Qualifications

Previous experience in catering, restaurant work, or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Basic cooking and meal preparation skills
Familiarity with food presentation and serving techniques
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks within the kitchen environment
