We are a boutique London-based academy focused on English, culture, communication and personalised learning. Our core work centres on Core English and cultural communication programmes, while our 11+ support sits within our wider academic provision for learners and families who need focused entrance preparation.

We are looking to connect with experienced freelance 11+ Tutors who can support students preparing for grammar school and independent school entrance exams.

This is a flexible freelance opportunity for tutors who bring strong subject knowledge, thoughtful guidance, and the ability to help young learners prepare with both precision and confidence.

About the Role

You may support students through:

1-to-1 lessons
Small group classes
Online sessions
In-person sessions at our Farringdon centre

We are looking for tutors with experience in one or more of the following:

11+ English
11+ Mathematics
Verbal Reasoning
Non-Verbal Reasoning
Grammar school entrance preparation
Independent school entrance preparation
Interview and written assessment preparation

What You’ll Do

You will:

Deliver engaging, structured and outcome-focused 11+ lessons
Support students preparing for grammar school and independent school entrance exams
Adapt your teaching to different learning styles, abilities and confidence levels
Help students strengthen core skills, exam technique, timing and accuracy
Provide clear feedback and support progress tracking
Create a positive, encouraging and confidence-building learning environment
Help students approach challenge with focus, composure and self-belief

Ideal Candidate

Previous experience teaching 11+ students is essential
Strong understanding of UK grammar school / independent school admissions preparation
Confident teaching 11+ English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and/or Non-Verbal Reasoning
Familiarity with GL, CEM-style or school-specific preparation is highly desirable
Clear communicator who can explain complex ideas simply
Warm, patient and confidence-building teaching style
Comfortable teaching online and/or in person
Able to teach 1-to-1 and small group classes effectively
Professional, thoughtful and aligned with Asterclass’s approach: excellence with warmth
Degree from a recognised university preferred
Teaching qualification or tutoring experience highly desirable
Right to work in the UK required
Enhanced DBS check required, or willingness to obtain one
