Full job description

A Level 2 Swim Teacher job typically involves delivering swimming lessons to various skill levels, monitoring swimmer progress, ensuring safety, and providing feedback to students and their guardians. Responsibilities include planning and leading engaging lessons, maintaining a safe environment, and potentially handling minor first aid incidents. Key Responsibilities:

Delivering Swimming Lessons:Teaching swimming techniques, strokes, and water safety rules to individuals or groups of varying abilities.
Progress Monitoring:Continuously assessing the progress of swimmers and adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
Safety Management:Ensuring the safety and welfare of all participants, monitoring behavior, and maintaining a safe environment.
Communication:Effectively communicating with students, parents/guardians, and other staff members.
Lesson Planning:Developing and implementing lesson plans that are appropriate for the skill level and needs of the participants.
Feedback & Evaluation:Providing constructive feedback to students on their progress and evaluating the effectiveness of the lessons.
First Aid:Administering first aid for minor injuries or accidents.
Equipment Management:Ensuring the proper setup and maintenance of equipment used in lessons.
Professional Development:Participating in ongoing training and development to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.

Swimming Proficiency: Strong swimming ability and a good understanding of swimming techniques and safety.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build rapport with students and create a positive learning environment.
Organisational Skills: Ability to plan, organize, and manage lessons effectively.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address challenges that may arise during lessons.
Patience and Enthusiasm: A patient and encouraging attitude towards students, motivating them to learn and improve.
Safety Awareness: A strong understanding of safety procedures and the ability to maintain a safe environment.
Commitment to Safeguarding: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable individuals.

Qualifications:

Level 2 Swim Teacher Qualification:Candidates typically need to hold a Level 2 Swim Teacher qualification, such as the Swim England Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualification.
Enhanced DBS Check:A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is usually required.
