Full job description

Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of all food and snacks.
Maintain accurate records of food supplies, and freezer/fridge temperatures.
Perform all aspects of kitchen duties as directed.
Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the overall cleaning of the kitchen area is carried out effectively.
Report to the Cook/Nurse Manager, any faulty appliances, damaged equipment or any potential hazard.
Promote safe working practice in the kitchen. Comply with Health & Safety and Hygiene Regulations.
Ensure that all personal information relating to residents remains confidential.
Participate in staff meetings and mandatory training as required.
Be kind and courteous to all service users of the home, providing the necessary assistance and responding to enquiries where required
Promote and ensure the good reputation of Wood Green Care Home at all times.
Treat all service users, colleagues and other third parties in and/or associated with the Home with dignity and respect at all times

Person specification

Essential criteria

In addition to an enthusiastic attitude and a positive approach, we are looking for individuals who demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:

Previous experience in a similar role
A genuine interest and passion for working in an environment with people with various care needs and making a positive difference to all aspects of their daily living experience;
A confident communicator with a good command of the English language, both written and spoken, who builds rapport easily with residents, relatives and colleagues;
Ability to use own initiative and to work as a team player who can work effectively as a key member of a care team which is focused on delivering excellence;
The ability to satisfy the requirements of an Enhanced Access NI check.
