Vehicle Technician – Melksham

Full-time | Permanent | Monday to Friday

£26,000–£29,000 per year + Bonus

Wiltshire Tyre & Autocentres are looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join our busy Andover depot.

We are a family-owned independent group of fast-fit garages and mobile tyre-fitting vans, with depots in Royal Wootton Bassett, Andover, Melksham and Chippenham. We provide a wide range of services including tyres, wheel alignment, MOTs, servicing, brakes, exhausts and general vehicle repairs.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works efficiently, and wants to be part of a growing independent business where standards matter.

The role

This is a hands-on role within a busy workshop, carrying out servicing, repairs and diagnostic work to a high standard. You will be responsible for ensuring vehicles are worked on safely, correctly and efficiently, while helping the depot maintain excellent levels of customer service.

Main duties

Carrying out vehicle servicing and routine maintenance
Diagnosing faults and identifying the most effective repair solution
Completing repairs including brakes, suspension, exhausts and general mechanical work
Supporting MOT preparation and carrying out MOT repair work where required
Communicating clearly with the front-of-house team regarding vehicle condition and required work
Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
Maintaining accurate job records and paperwork
Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe
Working efficiently as part of the depot team to keep jobs moving and customers looked after

What we are looking for

Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic
Good all-round mechanical knowledge
Ability to carry out servicing, repairs and fault-finding confidently
A responsible and quality-focused approach to your work
Good time management and the ability to work on your own initiative
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Excellent customer service awareness
Full UK driving licence
Own tools required

Desirable but not essential

NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent experience
Experience with diagnostics
Experience working in a busy independent garage or fast-fit environment
