Are you passionate about pastry, desserts, and delivering exceptional culinary experiences? We are looking for a talented Pastry Chef (Maternity Cover) to join our kitchen team and help create high-quality cakes, pastries, desserts, and baked goods that keep our customers coming back.

Location: Chatsworth Garden Centre
Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Contract: Fixed-Term Maternity Cover
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to cover a period of maternity leave within our talented kitchen team. You will be responsible for preparing and presenting a range of high-quality pastries, cakes, desserts, and baked goods, ensuring they consistently meet our standards for taste, quality, and presentation.

This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with the wider kitchen team to deliver an outstanding food offering in a busy and rewarding environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Preparing and baking a variety of pastries, cakes, desserts, and other sweet treats
Ensuring all products are produced to the highest standards of quality and presentation
Assisting with menu development and seasonal specials
Maintaining consistency in recipes, portion sizes, and presentation
Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering ingredients and supplies
Ensuring proper stock rotation and minimising waste
Maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the pastry section
Adhering to all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations
Supporting the wider kitchen team during busy service periods
Assisting with the preparation of food for special events and functions when required

What We're Looking For

Previous experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or Chef with strong pastry experience
A passion for creating high-quality pastries, cakes, and desserts
Strong attention to detail and presentation
Good organisational and time-management skills
Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety regulations
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
Reliability and commitment throughout the fixed-term contract period
