Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of deli products, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. This role offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills within a dynamic retail environment, supporting the smooth operation of our deli section.

Responsibilities

Prepare a range of deli items, including slicing meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches, and garnishing platters.
Serve customers in a courteous and professional manner, taking orders accurately and efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area, adhering to food safety standards at all times.
Restock shelves and display units with fresh products, ensuring items are well-presented.
Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and recording deliveries.
Upsell products to maximise sales opportunities while providing excellent customer service.
Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for colleagues and customers.
Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operation of the store.

Requirements

Previous experience in food preparation or within a restaurant environment is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is advantageous.
Basic maths skills for handling transactions and managing stock levels accurately.
Experience in serving customers with professionalism and friendliness.
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods.
Kitchen or culinary experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
A proactive attitude with a keen eye for detail and cleanliness.
