Full job description

HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic

Chris Wright Baildon Ltd are looking for an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic to join our in-house workshop team in Baildon, West Yorkshire.

We operate a specialist heavy haulage, HIAB, plant transport and machinery movement fleet, including HGVs, rigids, trailers, low loaders and support vehicles.

This is a full-time, permanent role working on our own fleet with varied work, steady hours and good earning potential.

Pay and Benefits

£18.00 per hour basic
£27.00 per hour overtime after 45 hours
Typical earnings £49,000–£56,000 depending on overtime

The Role

Routine maintenance, inspections and repairs
Preparing vehicles and trailers for MOT
Diagnosing and repairing defects
Working on HGVs, trailers, low loaders and specialist fleet equipment
Keeping accurate maintenance records

What We Need

Previous HGV, trailer, plant or commercial vehicle maintenance experience
Good fault-finding and repair skills
Reliable, practical and safety-focused approach
Able to work independently and as part of a team

Useful But Not Essential

HGV licence
IRTEC accreditation
Welding / fabrication experience
Hydraulic experience
Experience with HIABs, low loaders or specialist vehicles
