Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic logistics team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse activities, including materials handling, stock management, and shipping & receiving processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience or those eager to develop their skills within a fast-paced environment. The role involves physical activity and requires attention to detail to maintain high standards of quality and safety.

Duties

Handling materials efficiently using appropriate equipment and techniques
Operating forklifts and other warehouse machinery safely and effectively
Managing stock levels through accurate picking, packing, and stocking procedures
Assisting with the loading and unloading of goods from lorries or containers
Utilising warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and update records
Conducting quality control checks to ensure products meet company standards
Organising shipping and receiving documentation for outgoing and incoming goods
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment at all times
Supporting mechanical maintenance tasks as required to ensure equipment functionality

Skills

Proven experience in materials handling, picking & packing, stock management, or similar roles within a warehouse setting
Competence in operating forklift trucks and familiarity with warehouse machinery is highly desirable
Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory tracking and order processing
Strong understanding of shipping & receiving procedures and documentation requirements
Mechanical knowledge beneficial for basic maintenance or troubleshooting equipment issues
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during load & unload operations
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail for quality control tasks
Physical stamina to work in a physically demanding environment throughout shifts
