VACANCY: Semi Skilled Machine Operator

SHIFT: Monday – Thursday rotating days 6am – 4pm and nights 8pm -6am.

PAY: £16.97 per hour.

LOCATION: Rotherham, S60 (Close to Meadowhall, Sheffield)

ABOUT US:

MTL Advanced is hiring due to a major expansion, marked by the opening of our brand-new manufacturing facility, based in Rotherham just 5 minutes away from Meadowhall shopping centre.

MTL Advanced is operating from an impressive 390,000 sq. feet facility. We are a leading engineering and manufacturing company committed to innovation, quality and growth. We have invested in an extensive range of technology and equipment and provide services to a range of OEM’s from leading industries including defence, security, construction, quarrying, recycling and rail.

Our inhouse capabilities include, large format Laser Cutting and Press Braking, CNC Precision Machining, Fabrication & Welding, Shot Blasting, Painting and final Assembly.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will operate and maintain semi-automated robotic seam welding cells to produce high-quality metal components. Your primary focus is ensuring precision, efficiency, and equipment uptime.
Load and position workpieces into fixtures (crane operation) following standard operating procedures.
Execute automated weld cycles and monitor robotic arm movements for errors and faults.
Inspect finished welds for penetration, porosity and adherence to current quality standards.
Perform basic maintenance, including cleaning nozzles/shrouds and replacing wire spools or contact tips & liners.
Troubleshoot minor program deviations or mechanical jams.
Safety mindset required strict adherence to PPE and machine guarding.

DESIRABLE:

Technical literacy, ability to read drawings and weld symbols.
Mechanical aptitude & experience with MIG/MAG welding processes.

ABOUT YOU:

Previous experience of operating automated/semi machinery, in an industrial background.
Welding experience would be beneficial but not essential.
A flexible approach to be able to adapt to changing and challenging requirements.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to generate innovative concepts and ideas.
