Experienced Blinds Installer – Blinds, Shutters & Curtains

Location: Barnsley
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £13.00 – £14.00 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About Us

We are an established, growing interiors business with a busy order pipeline and a strong local reputation, specialising in made-to-measure blinds, shutters, curtains and window furnishings.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Blinds Installer to join our installation team.

This is a skilled, customer-facing installation position and would ideally suit someone who already has experience installing made-to-measure blinds and is looking for a stable, long-term position with an established business.

The Role

The primary responsibility of the role is the professional installation of made-to-measure blinds in customers' homes and other locations.

You will initially work alongside experienced members of our installation team to become familiar with our products, installation methods, standards and procedures.

As your knowledge and confidence develop, the expectation is that you will progress to carrying out installations independently using a company vehicle.

Blinds will form the majority of your work. During your probationary period, you will also be trained in the installation of shutters and curtains, with the expectation that you will develop competency across these product areas.

The role is not simply about fitting the product. You will represent our business in customers' homes, so professional conduct, attention to detail and customer service are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Installing made-to-measure blinds accurately and professionally
Ensuring finished installations meet our quality standards
Carrying out appropriate checks before and after installation
Developing competency in shutter installation
Developing competency in curtain, track and pole installation
Working from installation schedules and job information
Communicating professionally with customers
Identifying and resolving practical installation issues
Reporting any problems or discrepancies to the office team
Completing required job records and installation paperwork
Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment
Looking after company vehicles, tools and equipment
Working cooperatively with the office, sales and installation teams

What We're Looking For

Previous experience installing blinds is strongly preferred.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience with:

Made-to-measure roller blinds
Vertical blinds
Venetian blinds
Roman blinds
Pleated blinds
Perfect Fit or similar systems
Conservatory or roof blinds
Other made-to-measure window furnishing products

Experience with shutters, curtains, tracks or poles would also be highly advantageous.

We are looking for someone who:

Has genuine practical installation experience
Takes pride in the quality of their workmanship
Has excellent attention to detail
Can measure, assess and solve practical installation problems
Is confident using appropriate hand and power tools
Can work carefully in customers' homes
Communicates professionally with customers
Is reliable, punctual and well organised
Can work independently once fully trained
Is willing to learn our products, systems and installation standards

Customer Service

Our installers are often the final member of our team that a customer sees.

You will therefore be expected to:

Arrive on time and prepared
Treat customers and their homes with respect
Communicate clearly and courteously
Explain relevant aspects of the installation where appropriate
Leave the work area clean and tidy
Represent the company in a professional manner at all times

Driving

A full UK driving licence is essential.

A company van will be provided for carrying out your work and for commuting between home and the normal workplace/customer locations.

The vehicle is for work purposes and commuting only and is not provided for general personal use.

Training & Development

Although previous blinds installation experience is strongly preferred, you will receive structured training on our specific products, installation methods and procedures.

The initial training period will involve working alongside experienced installers before progressing towards independent installation.

During your probationary period, you will also receive training in shutter and curtain installation.

The objective is to develop you into a fully competent installer across our principal product ranges.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday – minimum 40 hours per week.

The nature of the installation work means that start and finish times may vary according to the day's schedule and customer locations.

Important

This is an installation role rather than a general labouring, warehouse or delivery position. Candidates should have previous experience in a skilled fitting or installation environment, with previous blinds installation experience strongly preferred.
