Sous Chef – £35,000 per year Join Our Country Pub Kitchen Team at The Jolly Sailor Saltford

Salary: £35,000 per year
Full-time | Permanent | Country Pub | UK

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and hardworking Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at our busy country pub.

This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who takes pride in producing great food, enjoys working as part of a team and is ready to take the next step in their career.

You will work closely with our Head Chef to deliver consistently high-quality food while helping to lead and develop the kitchen team.

The Role

As Sous Chef, you will be an important part of the kitchen leadership team. You will support the Head Chef with the daily running of the kitchen and take responsibility for the kitchen when they are not present.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard.
Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Leading and motivating the kitchen team during busy services.
Helping to train and develop junior chefs and kitchen staff.
Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and safety standards.
Following allergen and food safety procedures.
Assisting with menu development and seasonal specials.
Helping to manage stock, deliveries, portion control and food costs.
Reducing food waste and ensuring effective stock rotation.
Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.
Working closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
Taking responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Partie or in a similar senior kitchen role.
Has a genuine passion for food and hospitality.
Takes pride in the quality and presentation of their food.
Can confidently lead a kitchen team during busy services.
Works well under pressure without compromising standards.
Has excellent organisation and communication skills.
Understands food hygiene, food safety and allergen requirements.
Is reliable, professional and leads by example.
Is keen to develop their career within a successful pub kitchen.

Experience in a country pub, gastropub, restaurant or similar high-quality hospitality environment would be an advantage.
