The Roles:
Innovation Business Development Manager:
The University is committed to delivering globally recognised innovation and knowledge exchange solutions that improve our economy and society. As part of the DRI’s Innovation Team, you will support the development of the University’s innovation activities, working closely with academic colleagues and external partners. Your role is exclusively focused on innovation and knowledge exchange, helping to translate Portsmouth’s research strengths into real-world impact and income in line with Higher Education Innovation Funding (HEIF) priorities. You will advance initiatives that foster economic growth, partnership with industry and community, commercialisation of research outputs, and other HEIF-eligible activities. In doing so, you will support the University to meet its strategic goals for innovation, regional “place-based” impact, and knowledge exchange, while supporting robust compliance with funders’ requirements.

Innovation Business Development Manager (KTP):
The University is committed to delivering globally recognised innovation and knowledge exchange solutions that improve our economy and society. As part of the DRI’s Innovation Team, you will support the development of the University’s innovation activities, working closely with academic colleagues and external partners. Your role is exclusively focused on innovation and knowledge exchange, helping to translate Portsmouth’s research strengths into real-world impact and income in line with Higher Education Innovation Funding (HEIF) priorities. This role has a particular emphasis on the advancement of our Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) portfolio. You will advance initiatives that foster economic growth, partnership with industry and community, commercialisation of research outputs, through KTP and Accelerated Knowledge Transfer (AKT) projects and other HEIF-eligible activities. In doing so, you will support the University to meet its strategic goals for innovation, regional “place-based” impact, and knowledge exchange, while supporting robust compliance with funders’ requirements.

We would consider offering reduced hours for the right candidate.

Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working is available for this role. We ask for a minimum of 8 days on site per month, with the remainder of the time working from home. We are open to flexible working arrangements.

Salary Information:
New appointments will routinely be made to the entry spine point (minimum) for the advertised grade, from where the individual will (in addition to receiving annual cost-of-living-related increases) progress through the pay range to the maximum for the grade, within a reasonable timeframe. This ensures fairness, consistency and transparency in our pay structures. A higher starting salary or market supplement may be available for a truly exceptional candidate when circumstances fully justify a departure from our normal policy.
