Full job description

Overview

Swole Gym is looking for a reliable, practical and experienced Handyman / Maintenance Person to help keep our gym, facilities and equipment in excellent condition.

The role will be approximately 10–16 hours per week, with flexibility depending on what maintenance jobs need completing. Hours may vary from week to week, so we're looking for someone who can be flexible and manage their workload around the needs of the gym.

A good knowledge of gym machines and fitness equipment is essential. A key part of the role will be regularly checking, maintaining and carrying out minor repairs on our gym equipment to ensure all machines are kept in excellent working condition and, most importantly, are safe for our members to use.

Responsibilities

Carry out general repairs and maintenance throughout the gym
Regularly inspect gym machines and equipment for wear, damage or faults
Carry out appropriate maintenance and minor repairs to gym equipment
Ensure machines and equipment are kept in a safe, reliable working condition
Identify equipment or maintenance issues before they become bigger problems
Basic plumbing and minor electrical work where appropriately qualified
Painting, decorating and general touch-ups
Repairing and fitting fixtures, shelving, doors and other equipment
Basic carpentry and general DIY work
Assist with improvements and upgrades around the gym
Keep work areas clean, tidy and safe

What We're Looking For

Good knowledge and understanding of gym machines and fitness equipment is essential
Previous handyman, maintenance, building or trade experience
Strong practical and problem-solving skills
A good understanding of health and safety, particularly around gym equipment
Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
Able to work independently and prioritise jobs effectively
Good attention to detail
Flexible availability depending on the maintenance requirements of the gym
Own tools and transport would be an advantage
Relevant trade qualifications are a bonus

This is a great opportunity for an experienced handyman or maintenance person looking for 10–16 hours of flexible, ongoing work each week in a busy gym environment.

Pay: £15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 16.0 per week
