Full job description

Are you a driven business development professional who thrives on winning new business, building strategic relationships, and opening doors with key accounts?

We are looking for a UK & EMEA Business Development Manager to join SMC and play a pivotal role in expanding our presence across the UK and European defence markets.

This is a proactive, relationship-focused role where you will identify new opportunities, engage with defence prime contractors and strategic partners, and help drive sustainable sales growth across the region. If you are commercially minded, target-driven, and enjoy turning opportunities into long-term customer relationships, we would love to hear from you.

With over 65 years of manufacturing expertise, SMC Group designs and produced specialist masts, antennas, and RF communication equipment used by defence, security, and commercial organisations around the world.

What You’ll Be Doing

Developing new business opportunities across the UK and EMEA region.
Building relationships with defence prime contractors and key decision-makers.
Generating leads through proactive outreach, networking, industry events, and market research.
Managing the sales pipeline from initial contact through to opportunity development.
Conducting customer meetings, presentations, and site visits.
Working closely with internal teams to deliver solutions that meet customer requirements.
Maintaining accurate records and activity within the CRM system.
Tracking performance against sales targets and KPIs.
Representing SMC Group at industry exhibitions, conferences, and networking events.
Providing regular updates, forecasts, and sales reports to the Head of Global Partnerships.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management.
A track record of winning new business and achieving sales targets.
Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
Experience prospecting and developing opportunities through outbound activity.
A proactive, self-motivated, and results-focussed approach.
Commercial awareness and the ability to understand customer challenges.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to learn.

Bonus if you have:

Experience working within the defence, aerospace, telecommunications, or engineering sectors.
Knowledge of RF communications, antennas, masts, or related technologies.
Experience working within CRM systems and managing sales pipelines.
