Full job description

Job Description

Houghton Group is a family-run construction company based in Chelmsford, delivering building, electrical and renewable energy projects across the South East.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Junior Accounts Administrator to join our Finance Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop a career in accounts. You don't need previous accounts experience; we're looking for someone with a genuine interest in finance, a willingness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Produce and issue sales invoices accurately and on time.
Liaise with our Commercial Team to ensure invoicing information is complete and accurate.
Learn and assist with accounting processes, including Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) requirements.
Review company credit card transactions and ensure supporting information is obtained.
Chase outstanding payments and follow up on overdue invoices in a professional manner.
Manage and monitor several shared email inboxes, ensuring enquiries are dealt with promptly.
Update company records and financial information accurately.
Support the Finance Team with day-to-day administrative and accounting duties.
Undertake other administrative and finance-related tasks as required.

Key Skills

A genuine interest in accounts and finance, with a desire to build a long-term career.
Previous office administration experience is desirable but not essential.
Accounts experience is beneficial but not required.
Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Confident communicator with a positive, proactive attitude.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Well organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
Able to drive due to the location of our office.
