Receptionist – Malvern Hills Hotel

Location: Malvern, Worcestershire
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
Reporting to: Hotel Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly, professional and enthusiastic Receptionist to join the team at the Malvern Hills Hotel.

As the first point of contact for many of our guests, you will play an important role in creating a warm and welcoming experience from the moment they arrive. You will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling reservations and enquiries, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the hotel.

This is a varied role within a family-owned hotel, ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, working as part of a team and providing a high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome guests to the hotel in a friendly and professional manner.
Check guests in and out efficiently, ensuring they have all the information they need.
Handle telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries.
Take and manage room reservations and amendments.
Process payments, deposits and invoices accurately.
Provide information about the hotel, restaurants, local attractions and the Malvern Hills.
Deal with guest requests and resolve any issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
Liaise with housekeeping, restaurant and management teams to ensure guests receive a seamless service.
Monitor room availability and ensure booking information is kept accurate and up to date.
Assist with restaurant bookings and enquiries where required.
Promote hotel facilities, dining options, special offers and local experiences.
Maintain a clean, tidy and welcoming reception area.
Complete daily reception and administration duties.
Follow hotel procedures relating to security, cash handling, health and safety and data protection.
Assist other departments when required to support the smooth running of the hotel.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

Well organised and able to manage several tasks at once.

A good communicator with excellent customer service skills.
Comfortable using computers and hotel booking systems.
Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
Calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
Proactive, with a positive attitude and willingness to help.
Flexible regarding working hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Passionate about providing guests with a memorable experience.

Experience

Previous hotel, reception or customer service experience would be an advantage, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Experience within hospitality is desirable, although we would also welcome applications from candidates with strong customer service experience who are looking to develop their career within the hotel industry.
