Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and efficient Warehouse Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling materials, managing stock, and ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic logistics environment, contributing to the effective storage, movement, and dispatch of goods. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic. Previous warehouse experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Handling materials efficiently, including loading and unloading goods using appropriate equipment such as forklifts
Managing stock levels through accurate picking and packing of orders
Operating warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and update records
Assisting with shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
Stocking shelves and organising storage areas to optimise space utilisation
Conducting quality control checks to maintain high standards of product integrity
Performing mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Ensuring health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times during daily operations
Assisting with general warehouse organisation, including cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment

Requirements

Previous experience in warehousing or logistics is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for all necessary skills
Knowledge of materials handling techniques and safe lifting practices, including heavy lifting when required
Valid forklift licence is advantageous but not essential; training can be arranged if needed
Familiarity with warehouse management systems or similar software is desirable
Mechanical knowledge or experience with warehouse equipment maintenance is a plus
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in stock management and order fulfilment
Physically fit with the ability to load, unload, and carry items over extended periods
