Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Care to lead our care team within a reputable care home specialising in senior care. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality care services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a compassionate environment for residents. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader with a passion for elderly care to make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives.

Responsibilities

Take responsibility for the day-to-day care of residents, delegating tasks appropriately among care staff.
Lead each shift as the Shift Team Leader, providing supervision, guidance, and professional development to the care team.
Contribute to the training and mentoring of care and support staff, consistently serving as a positive role model.
Actively engage in personal and professional development, attending all required and mandatory training sessions.
Ensure that care home standards and systems operate effectively to deliver positive outcomes for residents.
Regularly monitor, audit, and review service performance, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Demonstrate high professional standards and strong leadership, maintaining relevant professional memberships.
Support the Home Manager in conducting staff supervision and appraisals, both formally and informally, to uphold quality and consistency in care delivery.
Implement and comply with all IP Care Home policies, procedures, legal obligations, and applicable codes of practice.
Assist with staff recruitment, deployment, and performance management to ensure delivery of high-quality care outcomes.
Oversee, as required, the work of maintenance contractors and others involved in property and equipment upkeep.
Foster effective communication with residents, relatives, staff, healthcare and social care professionals, external organisations, regulators, and the local community to promote the Care Home.
Professionally represent and promote the Home within the community, supporting marketing efforts and maintaining private bed occupancy.
Encourage a strong customer care ethos among all staff to enhance resident satisfaction and uphold the Care Home’s reputation.
Undertake any other duties consistent with the role and the operation of the Care Home.

Qualifications

Proven Deputy Manager experience within a care home or senior care environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with residents, families, and colleagues.
Relevant qualifications in health or social care (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Experience in developing and managing care plans tailored to individual needs.
Good IT skills for managing documentation and reporting systems.
Valid driving licence is desirable for travel between sites or community visits. This role is ideal for a compassionate leader committed to delivering outstanding elderly care while fostering a supportive team environment.
