About the Role

Queen's Park Surgery has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis for 20-25 hours a week.

The receptionist plays a pivotal role in the experience of patients at our practice, helping them to access the right services and dealing with their queries face-to-face, online and by telephone.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

Signposting patients and consulting with members of the practice team
Making patient appointments or answering patient queries face-to-face
Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address
Covering all reception positions as necessary
Processing appointment requests for future appointments from patients by telephone and in person
Dealing with visit requests
Opening up premises at the start of the day when first to arrive, de-activating alarm and making all necessary preparations to receive patients
When last to leave, at the end of the day, ensuring that the building is totally secured, internal lights and computers are off, and the alarm is activated
Having a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
Work in accordance with written protocols
Checking and completing tasks as required
E-mailing, scanning and photocopying, as requested
Undertaking prescription administration duties, including the processing of repeat, acute, and weekly prescription requests on designated days, ensuring accuracy and adherence to practice prescribing protocols
Managing prescription-related tasks and workflow within the clinical system, ensuring requests are actioned, assigned, and completed in a timely manner
Clearing rooms after surgeries
Checking and restocking clinical rooms with stationery stock on a regular basis

About the Candidate

General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience, offers excellent communication skills, and has the following attributes:

Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients and colleagues at all times.
Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Strong IT and administration skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.

Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues. All applicants should ensure that they live within reasonable commuting distance.
