We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and motivated Assistant Manager to join our team at Sign of the Angel.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Front of House professional who is ready to take the next step and become an important part of our management team.

About Sign of the Angel

Sign of the Angel is an independent, family-owned restaurant with rooms, located in the beautiful National Trust village of Lacock.

We are passionate about great food, fantastic drinks and warm, personal service. Our team have achieved both regional and national recognition, and we currently hold 2 AA Rosettes. We have also been featured in the Good Food & Trencherman's Guides and were proudly named Sawday's Inn/Pub of the Year.

We have a 50-cover restaurant, beautiful garden and five bedrooms, meaning there is always something happening and no two days are the same.

The Role

This is a 45-hour per week, full-time management position, working closely with our General Manager.

You will be part of a small management team, working alongside the General Manager, with a Front of House Supervisor working under you.

As a restaurant with rooms, this is a varied and hands-on role. You'll be involved in everything from leading busy restaurant services and supporting the Front of House team, to checking guests into their rooms and making sure our staying guests have a fantastic experience.

We're looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, leading from the front and getting involved in all areas of the business.

What You'll Be Doing

Working closely with the General Manager to ensure the smooth running of the restaurant and rooms
Leading and supporting the Front of House team on a daily basis
Managing and supporting the Front of House Supervisor
Leading by example and maintaining our high standards of hospitality
Running busy restaurant services and ensuring everything runs smoothly
Welcoming guests and checking them into their rooms
Making sure our staying guests are happy throughout their visit
Handling guest queries and resolving any issues professionally
Checking rooms and public areas to ensure our standards are maintained
Building friendly relationships with our guests
Supporting staff training and development
Helping with rotas, ordering, stock control and other operational tasks
Supporting the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the business
Taking responsibility for the business in the General Manager's absence
Bringing new ideas and helping us improve and develop the business

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who genuinely loves hospitality and wants to be part of a business where their ideas and personality are valued.

You will ideally have previous supervisory or management experience, although we're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, work ethic and passion for hospitality.

You'll need to:

Have previous Front of House experience
Be confident leading and motivating a team
Lead by example and remain calm under pressure
Have excellent communication and people skills
Be passionate about providing exceptional customer service
Have excellent attention to detail
Be friendly, approachable and confident dealing with guests
Be able to work independently as well as part of a management team
Have good IT skills
Be flexible and able to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
Have your own transport, as public transport to Lacock is limited

Salary of £27,000–£32,000 per year, depending on experience
