Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef/Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, supervising kitchen staff on management absence and the smooth operation of food production. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in culinary arts, hospitality, and food service to showcase their leadership and cooking expertise in a professional environment. Prior experience in restaurant settings, food safety standards, and team management are highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence, creativity in food presentation, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient food production
Manage food preparation activities, ensuring timely delivery of orders
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen
Oversee food presentation to ensure visual appeal and quality
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to meet customer expectations
Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating innovative culinary ideas
Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control
Train new team members in food preparation techniques and safety procedures
Ensure compliance with health regulations and organisational policies

Qualifications

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations within a hospitality or restaurant environment
Supervising experience or team management skills are highly advantageous
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure
Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide team members
Good communication skills to coordinate with staff and front-of-house personnel
Demonstrated creativity in culinary presentation and menu development
Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is preferred but not essential for entry-level candidates willing to learn and grow within the role
