Payroll & General Office Administrator (Part-Time)

Location: London
Job Type: Part-Time (20 hours per week)
Salary: £13,508 per annum (£258 per week, net equivalent)
Schedule: Monday to Friday (flexible hours)

About Us

We are a growing business looking for a reliable, organised, and proactive Payroll & General Office Administrator to support our day-to-day operations. This role is ideal for someone with payroll experience who enjoys working in a varied office environment and has excellent attention to detail.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing payroll using BrightPay, supporting office administration, responding to HMRC enquiries, and assisting with client onboarding and engagement. This is a varied role requiring strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently.

Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll

Process weekly and monthly payroll using BrightPay.
Calculate wages, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), pensions, deductions, and holiday pay.
Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information.
Prepare year-end payroll reports and submissions.
Respond to HMRC payroll queries and ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation.

Office Administration

Provide general administrative support across the business.
Maintain organised digital and paper filing systems.
Prepare correspondence, reports, and business documents.
Answer telephone and email enquiries professionally.
Order office supplies and assist with day-to-day office operations.

Client Administration

Prepare and send client onboarding documents.
Draft engagement letters and other client correspondence.
Maintain accurate client records.
Support the team with administrative tasks to ensure excellent client service.

General Duties

Assist management with ad hoc administrative projects.
Ensure confidentiality of payroll and client information.
Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the business.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience in payroll administration.
Experience using BrightPay Payroll Software.
Good understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.

Desirable

Experience in a professional services or accountancy environment.
Knowledge of workplace pensions and auto-enrolment.
Experience dealing directly with HMRC.
Experience with client onboarding and engagement letters.
