About the role

The William Cecil is looking for a Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team.

This is a great opportunity for a chef who takes pride in proper cooking, good ingredients and being part of a kitchen that cares about the details.

As Chef de Partie, you’ll take ownership of your section and help deliver consistently high standards across Milly’s Bistro, hotel dining, private events and weddings. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, keeping your section organised, prepared and ready for service.

The William Cecil is a characterful hotel in Stamford, set beside the Burghley Estate. With Milly’s Bistro, private dining, weddings, events and a busy hotel operation, there is plenty of variety and the opportunity to develop as part of a growing hospitality group.

We are looking for someone confident in their craft, organised under pressure and ready to contribute positively to the wider kitchen team.

What you’ll be doing

As Chef de Partie, your day-to-day role will include:

Taking responsibility for the smooth running of your section
Preparing and cooking dishes to a consistently high standard
Ensuring your section is organised, clean and service-ready
Completing mise en place efficiently ahead of service
Working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to maintain kitchen standards
Supporting junior chefs and helping create a positive kitchen culture
Maintaining strong attention to detail across preparation, cooking and presentation
Contributing ideas that reflect seasonality, quality ingredients and the Woodford food ethos
Managing food storage, labelling and stock rotation correctly
Helping control waste, portioning and food cost
Communicating clearly with the kitchen and front-of-house teams
Supporting other sections when needed
Following all food hygiene, health & safety and fire safety standards
Raising any issues or concerns promptly with the Sous Chef or Head Chef

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced as a Chef de Partie, or ready to step into the role
Confident working in a busy kitchen environment
Organised, reliable and calm under pressure
Proud of producing food that looks and tastes right
A strong team player with a positive attitude
Willing to support and guide junior members of the kitchen team
Interested in seasonal ingredients and good, honest cooking
Able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety
Open to feedback and keen to keep developing
